Our office evaluated the existing Australian Embassy structure, located in Washington DC, to determine if it could safely support various pieces of demolition equipment during building removal. The demolition of this structure required the use of remote-controlled demolition robots on elevated levels and a high reach demolition excavator to remove concrete and steel girders up to 4” thick. Temporary shoring was also designed to facilitate new construction on the site.
